A Froggy in the Library
Froggy Doo has a most unusual life story. First of all, he's a marionette that was "born" in Great Falls, Montana. That's not unusual. He, along with his voice and manipulator, Herb McAllister, had a children's television show for 22 years, first in Great Falls and later in Billings, Montana. For Montana, THAT'S unusual. But there's more! In 1966, Froggy Doo was "KIDNAPPED"! (Now THAT"S unusual!) Even the FBI got in on the act to find Froggy Doo.
Froggy Doo was found. All last summer a movie about this incident was filmed in southwest Montana (A Plum Summer). Now YOU have a chance to meet the real stars of the show, Froggy Doo and Herb McAllister.
Come to the Flathead County Library on Saturday, October 28th, 1:00 P.M. This is NOT a puppet show. It is an opportunity to meet a professional Montana puppeteer who followed his artistic inclinations and believed in himself. McAllister will relate tales of life with a frog. Froggy Doo will tell about life with a puppeteer and their memorable career together. Bring your questions and cameras.

Celebrating 50 Years of the Muppets
Saturday, April 8 and April 15, 2006
Montana Puppet Guild (MPG) is delighted to offer a total of eight hours of puppet celebration at Kalispell Center Mall on Saturday, April 8th, and AGAIN on April 15th (four hours on each date). It's OUR contribution to the NATIONAL DAYS OF PUPPETRY.
Focusing on "Fifty Years of the Muppets" and "Jim Henson, A Passport to Imagination", a free exhibit will be set up in the store space next to the Dairy Queen entrance. The exhibit, which includes still pictures, puppets, and a video on the life of Jim Henson, will be open from 1:00-3:00 P.M. on both Saturdays.
At the same time, and in the same location, three puppet-making workshops will be available to the public for $4.00 per puppet kit. (See puppet options under "Puppet Gallery".) All of these puppets are from the book The Muppets Make Puppets! by Cheryl Henson and the Muppet Workshop. Members of Montana Puppet Guild will be on hand to guide future puppeteers in the construction of their puppet pal.
MPG will conclude each day, from 3:00-4:00 P.M., with episodes from Season One of "The Muppet Show". This closing activity is free to the public.
Plan to join us as we celebrate puppetry, the Muppets, and the creative genius of Jim Henson!
